Who we are

Tiny Readers Book Club publishes a free weekly email containing curated lists of children's books, along with this website at tinyreadersbookclub.com. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Tiny Readers Book Club, and "you" means anyone visiting the site or subscribing to the email.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Your email address, when you subscribe to the weekly book list.
• Your first name, if you choose to provide it, so the email is not addressed to a stranger.
• Anything you write to us through the contact form or the author submission form, including your name, email address and message.

Information collected automatically

• Basic server logs kept by our web host, which may include IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used for security and troubleshooting.
• Email engagement data, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked, so we can tell which lists are useful.

How we use it

• To send you the weekly book list and occasional related emails
• To reply when you contact us
• To review book submissions from authors and publishers
• To understand which content is worth making more of
• To keep the site secure and working

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not build advertising profiles.

What we will never do

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the club. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

• Our email platform (Go High Level / LeadConnector), which stores subscriber records and sends the weekly email.
• Our web host (Hostinger), which serves this website.
• Our content delivery and DNS provider (Cloudflare), which routes traffic to the site.
• Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used on this site. Your browser requests these files directly from Google.

We may also disclose information if legally required to do so, or where necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set advertising cookies and does not sell or share your data with advertisers. We do use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, which sets a first-party cookie so that returning visits are not counted twice. It tells us how many people read a post. It does not tell us who you are.

Forms embedded from our email platform may set cookies necessary for the form to function, and our content delivery provider may set a cookie for security purposes.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will continue to work, though embedded forms may not.

Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We never ask for a child's name, birthday, photograph, age or any other identifying detail. The only thing we ask an adult for is an email address, and optionally a first name.

If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

How long we keep it

• Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
• Contact form messages are kept for up to two years so we have context if you write again.
• Server logs are kept for a short period by our host, typically a matter of weeks.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. One click, no exit survey.
• Ask what we hold about you and we will tell you.
• Ask us to correct it if something is wrong.
• Ask us to delete it and we will, unless we are legally required to keep it.
• Object to how we use it and we will stop unless there is a compelling reason not to.

Depending on where you live, some of these are legal rights rather than courtesies, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation. We extend them to everyone regardless of location. To exercise any of them, use the contact form.

Where your data is held

Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on our providers' standard contractual protections.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS, and our email platform holds subscriber data behind authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum, which is the most effective protection available.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so in the weekly email.
