Affiliate Disclosure

The short version: some links to books earn us a small commission, it never costs you a penny extra, and it never buys anyone a spot on a list.

What this page covers

Tiny Readers Book Club is free to read and free to subscribe to. Part of how we keep it that way is affiliate links. This page explains exactly what that means, because you deserve to know how a site that recommends things to you makes its money.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a normal link to a bookstore with a tracking code attached. If you click it and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale.

  • You never pay more. The price is identical whether you use our link or search for the book yourself.
  • You are never required to use them. Every list we publish is designed to work at your local library, for free.
  • Commissions are small. Typically a few percent of the sale price of a book.

Amazon Associates

Tiny Readers Book Club is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. As required by the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement, we state clearly and prominently:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Product prices and availability shown through any Amazon link are accurate as of the date and time indicated on Amazon and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of that product.

Other programs we may use

We may also participate in affiliate programs run by other booksellers, including independent bookstore platforms such as Bookshop.org, and from time to time by publishers directly. The same rules apply everywhere: no extra cost to you, and no influence on what we recommend.

Where you will see affiliate links

  • On this website, in blog posts and book lists
  • In our weekly email
  • Occasionally in social media posts, labeled as such

Where a specific link is an affiliate link, we mark it near the link itself, using a short label such as (paid link), so you know before you click rather than after.

Our editorial promise

No book has ever been added to a list because of money, and none ever will be.

We do not sell placements. We do not accept payment for reviews, features or inclusion in a book list. If an author or publisher pays for anything, it does not exist, because we do not offer it.

We choose books by reading them, arguing about them, and reading the shortlist aloud to actual children. Whether a title happens to carry an affiliate commission plays no part in that decision, and several of our most-recommended books earn us nothing at all.

Review copies

Authors and publishers sometimes send us books to consider, either physically or as digital review copies. Receiving a book does not guarantee it will be featured, and the overwhelming majority of submissions are not.

When we feature a title that came to us as a review copy, we say so plainly in the post or the email where it appears.

Why we tell you all this

The Federal Trade Commission requires that material connections between a publisher and the products it recommends be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. We agree with the rule and would follow it regardless. A book recommendation is only worth anything if you can trust why it was recommended.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a specific link earns us anything, ask. Use the contact form and a real person will answer.

Changes to this disclosure

If we join a new affiliate program or change how we use these links, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
